Review of HeatSticks SLS CP
The Basics About This Device
Lately we’ve been testing some of the newcomers to the Heat-Not-Burn industry. SLS is one such newcomer. The company was founded in 2017 and entered the HnB industry in 2019. Though SLS is young compared to some of the other HnB manufacturers, SLS has a strong device to help them enter the market. That device is SLS CP.
SLS CP is an integrated, multi-use device that offers self-cleaning and a locking mechanism. Officially CP can support 10 continuous cycles, but our test users got 12. Aesthetically, CP is quite interesting as it looks and feels very similar to an IQOS 2.4 or 3.0 holder

Our Thoughts on This Device
Now we know that 12 cycles isn’t that great compared to other devices that can support 40 or more, but the thing that really impressed us about SLS CP isn’t the number of uses or the features of the device, but the quality. It is obviously well-made. And for only $33USD, it is well worth it.
Now that being said, we wouldn’t recommend this device to frequent HnB users. Instead, SLS CP is better suited to casual users, new users, those who want an easy-to-use device, or someone who wants an inexpensive, but reliable backup device. For these types of users, SLS CP would work well!
The only complaints we had were that the device smells a bit on the first use. We’d recommend letting it run once or twice without a HeatStick, just to burn off that newly-released-from-the-factory smell. We also would love to see SLS graduate to a pin-style heated blade rather than the flat blade. We weren’t really able to get a good picture of this, but CP has the same style blade as IQOS devices do; long and flat. This tends to be more fragile than what we’re calling a pin-style blade, which kind of look like a thick needle that punctures the tobacco in the HeatStick. Not a big deal, we didn’t find the CP blade to be too fragile, but as HnB device designs naturally evolve over time, we’ve found that more and more companies are putting in the pin-style blades as they tend to be more sturdy.
Keep in mind this is the first device that SLS has put out so it’s not yet on the same level as devices like HiTaste, but there’s definitely promise for the brand.
Unboxing & How to Use
In your SLS CP kit you will find; the device, the manual, a warranty card, a USB cable, a cleaning brush, and cleaning sticks.
Once you’ve unboxed your CP kit, you’ll want to unlock your device by clicking the control button 5 times in rapid succession. When locked or unlocked the LED indicator light will flash red, green, and blue. Now that the device is unlocked you can check the charge. To do this, click the control button once. The color of the LED indicator light will show the percent of charge remaining. If blue the device is at full charge, green means medium charge, and red indicates little to no charge remaining. If needed, you can charge your device by connecting it to the USB cable, then a power source. Charging takes approximately 1 hour and 27 minutes, which is a very reasonable time! During charging the LED indicator light will flash either red or green. When the devices reaches full charge the light will turn solid blue.
Now that the device is charged, you can begin the heating process by pressing and holding the control button. The device will vibrate and the LED indicator light will begin flashing. The heating process will take approximately 25 seconds. The full cycle lasts for 4 minutes, 28 seconds or 13 puffs.
SLS CP is multi-use so once the cycle has ended, you can remove the used HeatStick by pushing up the HeatStick eject button, put in a new HeatStick, then begin another cycle. Our test users got 12 consecutive cycles before the device needed charging.
To keep the device in good condition you should clean it regularly. SLS CP has a built-in cleaning mechanism. To activate it, click the control button 3 times in rapid succession. The device will vibrate and the LED indicator light will flash blue. Self-cleaning lasts 1 minute and 30 seconds.
You’ll also want to manually clean the device. To do this, gently insert the cleaning sticks or cleaning brush into the HeatSticks heating chamber and brush or wipe away any grime. Be careful not to use force around the blade.
